S2: Anne McGinty: Business and podcast builder

The Business Owner's Journey

Season 2 is here!

And it's going to be a good one!

S2 opens with Anne McGinty, host of How I Built My Small Business, one of the fastest-growing entrepreneurship podcasts. The lineup also includes Chase Murdock (CEO, Decada Group), Jessica Rhodes (Founder, Interview Connections), Joe Daniels (Founder, Niche Builder), and Executive Coach Arielle Lechner, among others.

One highlight of the new season is a special guest-hosted episode, where Jessica Rhodes flips the mic on me. It's a candid interview, and I get to share stories from my entrepreneurial path, including multiple exits and lessons learned along the way.

As business owners, we’re constantly evolving, and so is this podcast. In Season 2 I want to help entrepreneurs level up, think bigger, and gain insights from people who have been in the trenches and built something remarkable.

With episodes tackling topics like scaling a small business, developing high-performance teams, mastering the mental game of entrepreneurship, and building strategic networks, Season 2 delivers actionable insights for business owners looking to accelerate their growth.

When business design meets creative passion...

We're kicking off tBOJ Season 2 with a fascinating conversation with Anne McGinty on The Business Owner's Journey podcast!

Anne built multiple successful businesses (including a 7-figure Christmas lighting company) and has 2 exits under her belt.

Last year she launched her "How I Built My Small Business" podcast, which is now ranked in the top 50 globally for entrepreneurship, top 1% of podcasts worldwide, and named one of Dave Ramsey's Best Business Podcasts.

Anne's journey perfectly illustrates something I harp on every day:

Business design is about more than systems and scale, you have to be intentional about creating something that aligns with your strengths and values.

Anne shared some perspectives every business owner should hear:
💡 Growth plateaus happen when you don't have the right structure to scale (she hit this wall at 20 employees)
💡 The inflection points in business often require outside perspective, but so many entrepreneurs resist that until it's too late
💡 Sometimes the right business design means letting go of something that works "okay" to create something that works brilliantly

My favorite part of the conversation Anne talking about how differently she approached building her businesses from her podcast, going from chasing financial success to now refusing to let finances be a distraction to her passion.

This is exactly why business design matters so much.

Whether it's a 'business' or a 'project' is a technicality - the point is you can design it with intention so it works FOR you, not DESPITE you.
